Built for Accountants & CPA Firms

Stop answering the
same questions twice

Your clients ask the same things every week: deadlines, documents, deductions. BotDesk answers them instantly, so you spend your time on work that actually requires your expertise.

Tax season or not, client
questions don't stop coming

Accountants get interrupted all day with questions a chatbot could handle. Every hour spent on repeat questions is an hour not spent on billable work.

The same 10 questions, over and over

"When is the deadline?" "What documents do I need to bring?" "Do I need to file an extension?" Your staff fields these every day. The bot handles them automatically.

Clients with questions outside business hours

Small business owners think about finances at 9pm. If there's no one to answer, they get anxious and shop around for a more responsive firm.

New client inquiries that go cold

Someone Googles "CPA near me," lands on your site, and leaves because they couldn't get a quick answer. A chatbot captures their information before they bounce.

How Long Setup Takes

Paste one line of code on your website. BotDesk reads your site and writes your bot's knowledge automatically.

How long it takes depends on your website. WordPress, Squarespace (Core plan and up) and most sites with a footer code box: about 5 minutes. Wix needs a Premium plan with a connected domain to add code. GoDaddy Website Builder usually can't take code, so you add a button that opens your chat link instead. Can't paste code at all? We'll set it up for you, free.

Questions your bot answers
so you don't have to

Trained on your specific practice: services, deadlines, document requirements, and fees.

"When is the tax filing deadline?"
Shares the deadlines you've listed on your site or in its notes, and suggests they ask you about an extension.
"What documents do I need to bring?"
Lists your standard document checklist based on personal or business filing.
"Do you handle small business taxes?"
Says whether you list that service, and takes their details for a consultation.
"How much does it cost to file?"
Shares any prices you've published. If you don't publish prices, it takes their details so you can quote them yourself.
"I haven't filed in 3 years. What do I do?"
Doesn't give tax advice. It reassures them that you can help and takes their details so you can talk it through.
"Are you taking new clients?"
Tells them what your site says about new clients and takes their details. It can't see your calendar, so it doesn't promise a slot.

Common questions

The bot is trained on information you provide about your own practice. It doesn't make up tax rules. It shares the specific information you enter, and always directs specific tax questions to a consultation with you. You can add explicit disclaimers, which we recommend.

It's replaced before anything reads it. A Social Security number written with dashes or spaces (like 123-45-6789), or a card number of 13 to 19 digits that passes the standard card-number check, is swapped for "[number removed for your privacy]" before the message goes to the AI. The saved chat, the lead and your email only show that mark, never the number. The bot is then told to ask the visitor not to share Social Security, card or bank numbers in the chat. It doesn't catch a Social Security number typed as nine digits with no dashes or spaces, or bank account numbers, so collect those through your own secure portal.

How Social Security and card numbers are handled →

Yes. You can set up separate responses for individuals (personal tax, W-2 filers, self-employed) and businesses (S-corps, LLCs, payroll). The bot asks qualifying questions and tailors responses accordingly.

BotDesk handles unlimited conversations simultaneously. It won't slow down during March and April when your volume spikes. That's exactly when it becomes most valuable.

Yes. You can edit your bot's knowledge base any time from your dashboard. When the IRS extends a deadline, update one field and the bot immediately reflects it.

Yes. It replies in the language each person writes in, such as Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean or Tagalog, on every plan, and you choose which languages it uses. On Growth and up, chats in another language reach you with an English translation.

How languages work →

No. If you can copy and paste text, you can set up BotDesk. The entire setup takes under 5 minutes and requires pasting one line of code on your website.

What it won't do

Tax and legal questions. It's built to never give tax, legal or accounting advice. When a visitor asks for advice, it says that's a question for you and takes their details so you can answer it.

Fees and hours. It's built to never make up a fee or your hours. If they aren't on your site or in what you've added, it says it doesn't have that detail and offers to take the visitor's name and number so you can follow up.

Social Security and card numbers. If a visitor types one into the chat, it's replaced with “[number removed for your privacy]” before the AI, the saved chat, the lead or your email see it. What it catches and what it doesn't.

What lands in your inbox

Sample, with made-up details. When a visitor wants a call back, the lead email looks like this. It is the same layout as the real one.

On your phone, tap the number to call them back. The same lead is saved in your dashboard's Leads tab. The Free plan takes up to 10 leads a month; paid plans take every one.
