Storm Leads at 11 PM
Still Reach Your Roofing Company

BotDesk is a chat assistant for roofing websites. When a storm hits after hours, it answers from your own site, takes the address, the damage and how urgent it is, and emails the lead to you so you can call back first thing.

How It Works

From a Leak at Night to a Callback List in the Morning

Most roof calls come in after a storm, when your office is closed. The bot covers the first conversation and hands you the details.

1

It answers from your site

Towns you serve, emergency tarping, free inspections, materials, warranties and financing: whatever your website says. If a town or service isn't on your site, it says so instead of guessing.

2

It asks what you need to know

Roofing is filed under Home services, so before the name and number it asks for the address or ZIP code, what the damage is and how urgent it is, such as water coming in right now. Visitors can skip a question and it still takes the lead.

3

You call them back

The lead is emailed to you and saved in your dashboard's Leads tab. When it takes a lead, it doesn't tell anyone a crew is booked: you confirm the visit.

What It Answers

What Homeowners Ask a Roofer at Night

It answers from your own website and the info you add. If something isn't there, it says so and offers a callback instead of guessing.

"Water is coming through my ceiling"

Gives your emergency or 24/7 line if your site lists one, asks where and how bad, and takes their details for a callback.

"Do you work in Nashua?"

Answers from the towns on your site, including ones listed on a storm or insurance-claims page, when that page is one it read.

"Do you do free inspections?"

Answers from what your site says about inspections and estimates. It doesn't make up an offer.

"How much is a new roof?"

Gives only prices your site or your dashboard lists. With no price list, it says the roofer prices it after an inspection and offers a callback.

"Will insurance pay for this?"

Says that depends on their policy and their insurance company, explains what your site says about how you work with claims, and offers a callback.

"¿Hablan español?"

It replies in the language each person writes in, on every plan. A reply in Spanish doesn't mean your crew speaks Spanish, so say on your site if they do.

Example

"Storm took some shingles. Can someone come tonight?"

Uses what's on your site: the towns you serve and your 24/7 tarping line

Example chat. Made-up company (Ridgeline Roofing), made-up visitor and numbers.

VisitorThe storm tore shingles off the back of the house and water is dripping into an upstairs bedroom. Do you do emergency tarping?

BotYes. Our site lists emergency tarping 24/7 at (603) 555-0104, so please call that line now. If water is near an outlet or a light fixture, stay away from it. I can also pass your details to the crew. What's the address, and is water still coming in?

Visitor22 Birch Lane, Nashua. Still dripping into a bucket.

BotThanks. Nashua is on our list of towns. What's your name and the best number to reach you?

VisitorSam Ortiz, 603-555-0105. Will my insurance pay for the new roof?

BotThat depends on your policy, so I can't say. Your insurance company decides what's covered. I've sent your address, the leak and that water is still coming in to the Ridgeline team, and they'll call you to confirm a visit.

The 24/7 line and the town list come from the company's site. If your site doesn't mention emergency tarping or a town, it won't promise either. It asks one or two questions at a time and still takes the lead if the visitor skips one.

Before You Go Live

What to Put on Your Site So It Can Answer

BotDesk answers from your own website and says so when something isn't there. These are the roofing questions that most often have no answer on a site.

Every town you serve, on one page

List them in plain text, for example on your service area or contact page. Towns that only appear in a map image or a scrolling widget may not be read.

Emergency and storm service

Whether you tarp or patch leaks at night or on weekends, and the number to call.

Inspections and estimates

Whether they are free, and how soon you can usually get out after a storm.

How you work with insurance claims

In your own words, for example that you meet the adjuster. The bot repeats what you write, but never says a claim will be paid.

Materials, warranties and financing

Shingle brands, metal or flat roofs, workmanship warranty terms and any financing you offer.

What you don't do

Gutters, siding, skylights or commercial roofs. Saying so saves a wasted call.

FAQ

Questions from Roofers

No. It's built to never say whether insurance will cover a claim or what a policy usually pays. It says that depends on their policy and their insurance company, and offers a callback. It doesn't offer to waive or pay anyone's deductible either.

Roofing is filed under Home services, so it asks for the address or ZIP code, what the damage is and how urgent it is, then their name and number. If they skip a question it still takes the lead. Each lead is emailed to you and saved in your Leads tab.

On Starter, it takes their name, number and details and emails them to you so you can call back and set a time. Growth can also book real times in the chat on BotDesk's own calendar, checked against your calendar link. On Pro, you can add your online booking link and it sends people there when they're ready.

The Free plan reads up to 5 pages of your site, Starter 15, Growth 50 and Pro 500. If something it needs sits on a page it didn't read, add it in your dashboard under What your bot knows and it uses it from then on. If your site blocks our scan with a security check, you can paste your services, prices, hours and towns instead. Questions it couldn't answer show up in the same place, so you can add the answer.

Yes. It replies in the language each person writes in, such as Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean or Tagalog, on every plan, and you choose which languages it uses. On Growth and up, chats in another language reach you with an English translation.

How languages work →

The Free plan answers your customers' questions and takes up to 3 leads a month. Starter ($29/month) takes every lead, Growth ($59/month) adds price estimates from your price list and booking on BotDesk's calendar, and Pro ($99/month) adds your booking link. Free plan: no card. Paid plans: 30-day free trial, card at checkout, no charge until day 31, cancel anytime.

What it won't do

Insurance and deductibles. It's built to never promise that insurance will cover a claim, never say what a policy usually pays, and never offer to waive or cover a deductible. It says that depends on their policy and their insurance company, and offers a callback.

Prices. It gives only prices from your site or your dashboard. Without them, it says you price the job after an inspection.

What lands in your inbox

Sample, with made-up details. When a visitor wants a call back, the lead email looks like this. It is the same layout as the real one.

On your phone, tap the number to call them back. The same lead is saved in your dashboard's Leads tab. The Free plan takes up to 3 leads a month; paid plans take every one.
